Moses Pengry Sr. came from England to Massachusetts in 1646. He and Lydia were married in Ipswich, Mass. A geneology published in 1881 wrongly stated he married Abigail. He was a saltmaker, innkeeper, city official, and deacon of the Congregationall Church. Moses II was a shipright in Amesbury, Mass. He and Sarah moved in the late 1600's to Colleton County, SC near Edisto. Moses III lived there on land granted to him until 1717.
